LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Richard J. Daly upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition on May 26, 2011

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Richard J. Daly upon the occasion of his designation for special recog-
nition by Tomorrow's Hope Foundation to be celebrated at its Stars for
Students Scholarship Gala at the RXR Plaza in Uniondale, New York, on
Thursday, May 26, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The mission of Tomorrow's Hope Foundation is to ensure the
excellence as well as the continuance of Catholic elementary schools on
Long Island, by increasing awareness and by providing scholarships and
program funding for the needs of students and schools throughout the
Diocese of Rockville Centre; its goal is to give more children the
opportunity to enjoy the advantages of an elementary Catholic school
education; and
WHEREAS, Richard J. Daly is the Chief Executive Officer of Broadridge
Financial Solutions, Inc. and is a member of the Broadridge Board of
Directors; and
WHEREAS, The recipient of the Ernst and Young 2003 Entrepreneur of the
Year Award, and Arthur Andersen's worldwide Best Practices Award for
both Organization and People, Richard J. Daly attended the Harvard Busi-
ness School's Young President's Program and in 2001, successfully
completed its Leadership program; and
WHEREAS, Deeply involved in both educational and community organiza-
tions, Richard J. Daly is a member of the Board of Trustees of New York
Institute of Technology, which is also his alma mater; in addition, he
is also a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Make-A-Wish
Foundation of Suffolk County, Inc., and serves as its Honorary Director;
and
WHEREAS, Currently a resident of Upper Brookville, New York, Richard
J. Daly is a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School in Cambria
Heights, and Christ the King High School in Middle Village; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Debbie, their two
daughters, Erin and Kristen, and their son-in law, Kyle, all of whom
feel privileged to be part of his life and rejoice in his achievements;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend individ-
uals of outstanding character, who have shown initiative and commitment
toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves, and acting as
role models of leadership to be emulated by both peers and young people;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Richard J. Daly upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition on May 26, 2011; and
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Richard J. Daly.
