LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Olean Busi-
ness Institute

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge institutions of higher learning within our
midst that have enriched educational and economic opportunities and made
significant contributions to the quality of life in this great Empire
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of Olean Business Institute, which was found-
ed as a private, co-educational business college in 1961, by Olean
businessmen Howard E. Eyler and Daniel R. McCarthy; and
WHEREAS, Olean Business Institute has lived up to its vision to serve
as a link between the academic and business communities and has remained
steadfast to its philosophy to provide students with a practical, quali-
ty education without the necessity of an expensive and time-consuming
four-year program; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of its history, Olean Business Institute has
adapted to, and kept pace with, the demands of an ever-changing world of
business, expanding from two programs of study to its current offering
of academic programs, including five Associate Degree programs and four
Diploma programs; and
WHEREAS, Olean Business Institute is committed to providing relevant
career education, promoting interpersonal and team skills, encouraging
critical thinking skills, integrating relevant technologies and informa-
tion to give students the necessary tools for success in business; and
WHEREAS, Olean Business Institute positively contributes to the busi-
ness community in Western New York by providing a skilled workforce and
enhancing the knowledge and skills of individuals currently employed in
the region; and
WHEREAS, Olean Business Institute offers practical, real-world experi-
ence to degree-seeking students through its internship program; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate
milestones in the histories of institutions of higher learning in this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Olean Business Institute; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Olean Business Institute.
