LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara Walton upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Service Award by Schenectady B'nai
B'rith

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in service to their
community; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Walton will be honored during Schenectady B'nai
B'rith's Service Award Ceremony to be held on June 5, 2011, at Congre-
gation Agudat Achim; and
WHEREAS, Barbara is a very active and dedicated member of Congregation
Gates of Heaven (CGOH); and
WHEREAS, She currently serves as chairman of CGOH's Reyut Committee,
where she coordinates and participates in the delivery of meals, visits
to the sick, and transportation to those in need; and
WHEREAS, Barbara also serves as a member of the Board of Directors at
Sisterhood at CGOH, and has previously served as Past President; and
WHEREAS, She is a common fixture in CGOH's kitchen, preparing for
Sisterhood and other congregation events; and
WHEREAS, Barbara also helps organize CGOH's holiday party for develop-
mentally disabled adults; and
WHEREAS, She is a member, past chair and co-chair of the Cemetery
Committee; and
WHEREAS, Barbara also contributes her time to Women of Reform Judaism
at the district and national levels; and
WHEREAS, She has exhibited the true spirit of this prestigious award
through her tireless dedication to the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara Walton upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Service Award by Schenectady B'nai B'rith; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara Walton.
