LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michelle Hand upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Outstanding Student Employee Award by
the Capital District Library Council

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Michelle Hand has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michelle Hand
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Outstanding
Student Employee Award by the Capital District Library Council which was
celebrated at its Eighth Annual Outstanding Student Employee Award Cere-
mony on Thursday, April 14, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Capital District Library Council is to
make information flow by working with the libraries of the ten-county
Capital District region of upstate New York to optimize success through
collaboration; the Council's leadership in information management, staff
development, and resource sharing enables member libraries to provide
top quality services; and
WHEREAS, The Outstanding Student Employee Award was established to
reward excellence among young library workers, both to exemplify the
high standards sought in library staff and to inspire investigation of
librarianship as a career goal; and
WHEREAS, Michelle Hand, Class of 2011, received this auspicious award
for her volunteer work with the Guilderland Public Library; and
WHEREAS, Michelle Hand was selected for her commitment and dedication,
time management skills, excellent patron services and colleague inter-
action, responsibility, peer leadership, interest, and initiative; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Michelle Hand represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michelle Hand upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Outstanding Student Employee Award by the Capital District Library
Council; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michelle Hand.
