LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Deborah Re upon the occasion of receiv-
ing the Outstanding Adult Educator of the Year Award from the Suffolk
Association for Continuing Community Education on June 6, 2011

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those illustrious individuals of distinguished purpose whose
purposeful lives and distinguished careers have been committed to the
pursuit of excellence in the education of the citizens of this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Deborah Re upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding Adult Educator
of the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing Community
Education at its Awards Dinner to be held on Monday, June 6, 2011, at
the Watermill Restaurant in Smithtown, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Suffolk Association for Continuing Community Education
(SACCE) was founded to promote lifelong learning opportunities for
adults within Suffolk County and beyond the county's borders; its
purpose is to advance adult education as a vital factor in adult growth,
development and fulfillment; and
WHEREAS, Through the sharing of resources and ideas with colleagues in
the Nassau Association, and under the umbrella of the New York State
Association, SACCE strives to increase the recognition of and respect
for continuing community education and its professionals; in addition,
it is the goal of the organization to exercise leadership in the advoca-
cy of adult community and continuing education at the local, state and
national levels; and
WHEREAS, A teacher of singular distinction, Deborah Re has continually
demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence, and dili-
gent leadership in her unwavering service to her community and profes-
sion and consequently has been designated for this most prestigious
honor; and
WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Deborah Re has been an invaluable member
of the Western Suffolk BOCES community and has demonstrated outstanding
dedication; and
WHEREAS, Deborah Re began her association with Wilson Tech in 1992, as
she handled dual responsibilities as a counselor and a case manager at
the adult Career Center; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, her ability to multi-task has been a strength
called on often as she fulfills her commitment to the students of Wilson
Tech; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Deborah Re has served as the liaison between West-
ern Suffolk BOCES and Veterans' organizations, and she has represented
adult students who are enrolled in Wilson Tech high school programs; and
WHEREAS, In her role as counselor for literacy students, Deborah Re
has provided a supportive environment for GED and ESL students; the
literacy students and career and technical education students she meets
with are always treated with understanding and respect, and all are
encouraged and supported as they strive to achieve their goals; and
WHEREAS, Deborah Re meets her responsibilities to Wilson Tech's
students and staff and to the community at large with intelligence and
humor; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her career thus far, Deborah Re has brought an
uncompromising standard of excellence to her work and a warm sense of
caring and concern to every person she educates; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and

sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned recognition and applause; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Deborah Re upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding Adult
Educator of the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing
Community Education on June 6, 2011; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Deborah Re, 10 Falcon Place, Huntington, New York 11743.
