LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael Lentin upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2011 Man of the Year Award by Queens
Centers for Progress
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals whose extraordinary spirit and determination are an
inspiration to others; and
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; Michael Lentin has given not only of
his time and energies but also of his competence, intelligence and lead-
ership and consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michael Lentin
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2011 Man of the
Year Award by Queens Centers for Progress-Services for People with
Developmental Disabilities which was celebrated at its Annual Dinner
Gala at Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Corona,
New York, on Tuesday, May 24, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Queens Centers for Progress is dedicated to the goal of
providing children and adults with developmental disabilities the oppor-
tunities to make choices which will maximize their skill development,
independence, and integration into community life; at the core of all
the agency's services is the deeply held belief in the development of
the individual; this organization believes that all people can learn and
all people, in spite of any developmental disability, can make meaning-
ful choices about their lives; and
WHEREAS, On April 5, 2011, Michael Lentin, President of CitiQuiet &
Champion Windows, visited Queens Centers for Progress and was touched by
the amazing things going on there, including the Day Program and Chil-
dren's Center; and
WHEREAS, Michael Lentin has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Michael Lentin has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such enduring courage and accomplishment are brought to our
attention, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those
individuals for the edification and emulation of others; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Lentin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2011 Man of the Year Award by Queens Centers for Progress; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Lentin.
