LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending THE NETWORK JOURNAL upon the occasion
of hosting its 14th Annual 40 Under-Forty Black Achievement Awards Cere-
mony

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
THE NETWORK JOURNAL upon the occasion of hosting its 14th Annual 40
Under-Forty Black Achievement Awards Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, Held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in
New York City, this special event honors men and women under 40 years
old whose professional accomplishments have significantly impacted an
industry or profession, and who also have made an important contribution
to their community; and
WHEREAS, THE NETWORK JOURNAL (TNJ) is a monthly print and online busi-
ness magazine for Black professionals and business owners; it was found-
ed in 1993, and is dedicated to educating and empowering its readers by
the following: providing news and commentary on issues that affect the
growth of business and the advancement of professionals in the work-
place; featuring successful entrepreneurs and professionals who offer
insights on business- and career-building strategies; highlighting busi-
ness and career trends in key industries; providing information on valu-
able resources in the government, corporate and not-for-profit sectors;
and
WHEREAS, Each issue of TNJ also contains articles on technology,
health, personal finance and entertainment; in addition to the magazine,
TNJ hosts two signature events that honor professionals in the business
world through its 25 Influential Black Women in Business Luncheon, and
the 40 Under Forty-Black Achievement Awards Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, The growing success of TNJ can be witnessed through the many
awards it has received from prominent local organizations; it has been
honored by: the U. S. Small Business Administration for its "outstanding
commitment to America's small business"; the National Minority Business
Council, Inc., for "outstanding performance in media communications to
the minority community"; and by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Minor-
ity Business Development Agency for "outstanding commitment and positive
contribution to the MBE Community"; it has also been featured on CNN and
Fox Television Network, and has been profiled in THE DAILY NEWS, DIASPO-
RA MAGAZINE along with several other publications; and
WHEREAS, Ably led by Founder and Publisher Aziz Gueye Adetimirin, TNJ
continues to prosper today and into the future; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend THE NETWORK JOURNAL upon the occasion of hosting its 14th Annual
40 Under-Forty Black Achievement Awards Ceremony; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Aziz Gueye Adetimirin, Founder and Publisher of THE NETWORK
JOURNAL.
