LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Karen O'Hara upon the occasion of
capturing the title of the 2011 Mrs. New York America Pageant

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
talent, skill, dedication and commitment of our citizens who distinguish
themselves through excellence in national pageant competitions; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those who, by achieving outstanding success in national
pageant competitions, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Karen O'Hara upon the occasion of capturing the title at the 2011
Mrs. New York America Pageant; and
WHEREAS, At the age of 44, Karen O'Hara is the 35th woman to wear the
crown for Mrs. New York America; and
WHEREAS, Having entered the Mrs. New York America Pageant four consec-
utive years, Karen O'Hara was named 1st runner-up for all three previous
years; poised and determined, believing wholeheartedly that dreams do
come true, in 2011 she captured the esteemed title of Mrs. New York
America; and
WHEREAS, A businesswoman who owns South Towns Rte. 219 Antiques in
Springville, New York, Karen O'Hara is also a wife of 16 years and the
mother of two remarkable children, Ryan and Shannon, who have all served
as her inspiration; and
WHEREAS, Karen O'Hara's goal is to be a spokesperson in the fight to
stop human trafficking and is a volunteer for the Polaris Project, dedi-
cated to creating a world without slavery; and
WHEREAS, Karen O'Hara hopes to inspire others to go after their dreams
and to never give up; she vows to do her best to represent her community
as well as the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the accomplishments of remark-
able young people in this great Empire State who participate in national
pageant competitions; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Karen O'Hara upon the occasion of capturing the title of
2011 Mrs. New York America Pageant; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Karen O'Hara.
