LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the New York Chapter of Shiri Shishu
Sahitya Kendro upon the occasion of celebrating its 12th Anniversary on
June 19, 2011

WHEREAS, Organizations which serve the interests of the people of this
Empire State merit the commendation of this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those organizations of true purpose and worthy accomplishment which
foster a spirit of community and service and, simultaneously, work dili-
gently to preserve their rich cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the New York Chapter of Shiri Shishu Sahitya Kendro upon the occasion of
its 12th Anniversary at its 12th Years Founding Celebration at Lucky
Restaurant in Astoria, New York, on June 19, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The New York Chapter of Shiri Shishu Sahitya Kendro is a
Bangladeshi - American Organization dedicated to the creation and appre-
ciation of Bengali juvenile literature and Culture in Bangladesh and the
United States; and
WHEREAS, The celebration will also include the Publication ceremony of
the book 'SHIM' SHEY EK MAA' edited by Journalist and Activist Hakikul
Islam Khokan; the book is a compilation of poems written by the reputed
poets and juvenile litterateurs from Bangladesh; and
WHEREAS, The New York Chapter of Shiri Shishu Sahitya Kendro has
served the interests of the people of the Empire State by honoring and
celebrating the Bangladeshi-American cultural relation for 12 years; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to recognize and pay tribute to the New York Chapter of Shiri
Shishu Sahitya Kendro; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body salutes all of the individuals, past
and present, who have given their time to this worthy organization,
noting their commitment to enhance and improve the quality of life in
their community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the New York Chapter of Shiri Shishu Sahitya Kendro upon the
occasion of celebrating its 12th Anniversary on June 19, 2011; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the New York Chapter of Shiri Shishu Sahitya Kendro.
