LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Reverend Terry Lee upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body, is justly proud to honor
Reverend Terry Lee upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Terry Lee was born and raised in Cowley, Jamaica; he
moved to New York in 1989, and for almost two decades, his "Church on
Wheels" has been traveling all throughout New York City teaching and
spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to many; and
WHEREAS, The Church on Wheels is a household "moving landmark"
throughout Brooklyn which helps create spiritual awareness and comfort
rescues through many programs, including the I.R.T.C. program; and
WHEREAS, In 1994 Reverend Lee opened Byways and Hedges Youth For
Christ Ministry, Inc.; since its beginning, the church's teaching and
practice of love and compassion has culminated into a large congregation
throughout Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, An active resident of the Brooklyn community, Reverend Lee
provides spiritual guidance to many families and individuals; he is also
a member of the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and
currently serves as a member of Community Board 17, Borough of Brooklyn
Ecumenical Advisory Group, and Churches United to save and heal; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Lee's strong beliefs and vision that communities are
as one village where everyone works together toward empowerment has led
him to network with many political and civic leaders in New York includ-
ing the New York Police Department; he serves as a mediator between the
community members and the Police Department, particularly the 67th,
70th, and 71st precincts as part of the NYPD Clergy Liaison Unit and a
member of the NYPD Civilian Observation Patrol (COP); and
WHEREAS, Reverend Terry Lee is also the President of the BY-WAYS REAL
LIFE TIMES, a community newspaper established to empower and educate the
community members on immigration and other issues; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Terry Lee's integrity and passion for others and his
faith in God create a dynamic and effective teaching environment in his
church and on the streets; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Lee has brought to his ministry an overwhelming
spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and enlightenment
in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties, while always
displaying the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body commends Reverend Terry Lee, noting his
unremitting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God,
man, and his community, and extending to him heartfelt best wishes and
for a future of purposeful success and well-being; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reverend Terry Lee upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Terry Lee.
