LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Mary Ellen Walsh upon the occasion of
her retirement after many years of distinguished service to the New York
State Division of Parole

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Mary Ellen Walsh upon the occasion of her retirement from the New York
State Division of Parole, to be observed at a retirement celebration on
Friday, October 21, 2011, at Lynn's Uptown Tavern, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Mary Ellen Walsh rendered faithful, conscien-
tious and valuable service to the New York State Division of Parole; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Walsh began her career right out of High School as
a stenographer with the Department of Education from 1968-1970; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Walsh left her position to raise her children
until 1987, when she returned to State service as a Dictating Machine
Transcriber with the Division of Parole at Central Office in the ALERTS
Bureau; and
WHEREAS, In 1990, Mary Ellen Walsh moved to the Interstate Bureau
working as a keyboard specialist; she was later promoted to Secretary 1
and then to Agency Program Aid; and
WHEREAS, In 2005, Mary Ellen Walsh began working for the Albany
Office, Parole Violations Bureau; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as a Parole Violations Processor, Mary Ellen
Walsh served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Mary Ellen Walsh was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure with the New York State Division of Parole,
Mary Ellen Walsh earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; and
WHEREAS, In September of 2008, Mary Ellen Walsh received an Agency-
wide Award from the Chairman, for her Contributions to the Violation
Process, recognizing her professional commitment to ensure all Division
standards are met within the violation process and acknowledging her
outstanding organizational skills; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her outstanding career, Mary Ellen Walsh has
been called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic
and charitable endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly;
and
WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Walsh became the CSEA local grievance secretary in
1993, assisting her fellow union members any way she could; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, this remarkable woman was the Secretary and the
President of the Local Letter Carriers Auxiliary for 12 years, and its
State President for four years ending in 1997; she also volunteered with
the Bethlehem Soccer Club tournaments; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Mary Ellen Walsh serves as a fund raiser for the
Juvenile Diabetes Association; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Mary Ellen Walsh upon the occasion of her retirement after many
years of distinguished service to the New York State Division of Parole,

and to wish her continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary Ellen Walsh.
