LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Councilwoman Nancy Hammond upon the
occasion of her retirement after 20 years of distinguished service to
the Town of Lloyd, New York

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Councilwoman Nancy Hammond upon the occasion of her retirement after 20
years of distinguished service to the Town of Lloyd, New York; she offi-
cially retired on Saturday, December 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Hammond was elected to the town board in 1992 and has
served five four-year terms as a councilwoman making her the longest
serving member of the town board; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Nancy Hammond has secured her position in the
history of the Town of Lloyd as being the first woman to serve on its
town board; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Hammond was a strong supporter of town recreation and
efforts to expand the town's recreational facilities, as evidenced by
her efforts in creating the town's first park on the Hudson River; and
WHEREAS, Well trained in cost management, Nancy Hammond served her
many terms with tenacious fiscal responsibility; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as Councilwoman, Nancy Hammond served with
loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Nancy Hammond was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure on the Lloyd Town Board, Nancy Hammond
earned the admiration, esteem, affection and respect of her colleagues;
and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Larry, and their
two children, as well as six grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged
to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and in the
great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good
works of those civic-minded community members who dedicate their lives
and career to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Councilwoman Nancy Hammond upon the occasion of her retirement
after 20 years of distinguished service to the Town of Lloyd, New York;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Nancy Hammond.
