LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Brett Gossett, of John F. Kennedy
High School, upon the occasion of being named a Semifinalist in the 2012
Intel Science Talent Search

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the youth of
today, and leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements exem-
plify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and nation;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Brett Gossett upon the occasion of being named a Semifinalist in
the Intel Science Talent Search 2012, a program of Society for Science &
the Public, an organization dedicated to public engagement in scientific
research and education; and
WHEREAS, Brett Gossett's noteworthy project is entitled "Are Some
Disabilities More Handicapping than Others? A Comparison of Teacher
Grading of Children with Medical, Physical and Behavioral Disabilities";
and
WHEREAS, As the nation's oldest and most prestigious pre-college
science competition, the Intel Science Talent Search brings together the
best and brightest young scientific minds in the United States to
compete for $1.25 million in awards; and
WHEREAS, In achieving this high academic honor, Brett Gossett may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence brought to Bellmore, New York's John F. Kennedy High School; and
WHEREAS, Brett Gossett stands poised on the threshold of a broad and
challenging world, a testament to the love and nurturing care of this
outstanding student's family, teachers and friends; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Brett Gossett upon the occasion of being named a Semifinal-
ist in the 2012 Intel Science Talent Search, and to wish this outstand-
ing student continued success in all future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Brett Gossett.
