LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kenneth D. Daly upon the occasion of his
designation by HeartShare Human Services of New York as the recipient of
its 2012 Dr. Catherine White Achievement Award

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors,
and community service are an example and inspiration to their
colleagues, friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kenneth D. Daly upon the occasion of his designation by HeartShare Human
Services of New York as the recipient of its 2012 Dr. Catherine White
Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Daly, President of National Grid New York, will be
honored at the organization's Spring Gala and Auction, to be held on
Thursday, March 22, 2012; and
WHEREAS, HeartShare Human Services of New York is a nonprofit human
services agency dedicated to improving the lives of people in need of
special services and support, and to helping individuals develop to
their fullest potential and lead meaningful and enriched lives; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1914, HeartShare Human Services of New York
promotes self-sufficiency and responsibility through its programs and
services to more than 25,000 children, adults, families, and the devel-
opmentally disabled throughout New York City annually; each year, at its
Spring Gala and Auction, it proudly recognizes the achievements of those
who exemplify its ideals and help to further its mission; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Daly, CFA, is the President of the New York business
of National Grid, which provides electricity and natural gas to custom-
ers in Upstate New York, and natural gas to customers in Brooklyn,
Staten Island, Queens and on Long Island; he joined National Grid's
predecessor, Brooklyn Union, which became KeySpan, in 1988 as a Manage-
ment Trainee in the Credit and Collections Department and has most of
his 24 years with the Company in its New York business sector; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Daly was recently based in London, serving for two
years as Group Financial Controller, and has previously held numerous
positions in Finance, Human Resources and Customer Relations throughout
his career; he previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Global
Gas Distribution and also served as Vice President of Financial and
Employee Related Services; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Daly was also the Merger Coordination Officer during the
KeySpan/National Grid merger; he previously served as the Director of
Financial Planning, as well as the Director of Investor Relations, and
was the Finance & Accounting Team Co-leader for the Brooklyn Union/Long
Island Lighting merger; and
WHEREAS, A 1988 graduate from St. Francis College with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in English, Kenneth Daly has earned both an MBA in Finance
from St. John's University and an MS degree in Human Resource Manage-
ment from Polytechnic University; he achieved the distinguished Char-
tered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2002; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Daly has been an adjunct professor at St. Francis College
(SFC), teaching human resource, business and finance courses for 18
years; he was also the past Chairman of the SFC Business Advisory Coun-
cil, and a member of the Development Committee of the SFC Board of Trus-
tees; he has been the Director of the St. John's University Executive-
in-Residence Program since 1992; and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Daly is the past Chairman of the Kingsborough Commu-
nity College Board of Directors and a former member of Junior Achieve-

ment Board of Directors; he was also an Executive Sponsor of the Women
in Networks affinity group and the United Way Campaign Co-Chair; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Laurie, and their
four children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Kenneth Daly has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kenneth D. Daly upon the occasion of his designation by HeartShare
Human Services of New York as the recipient of its 2012 Dr. Catherine
White Achievement Award on March 22, 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kenneth D. Daly.
