LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael McCormack upon the occasion of
his induction into the Dutchess Community College Alumni Hall of Fame
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Michael McCormack has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michael McCor-
mack upon the occasion of his induction into the Dutchess Community
College Alumni Hall of Fame, to be celebrated at its Annual Gala on
Saturday, March 24, 2012; and
WHEREAS, A 1978 graduate of Dutchess Community College, Michael McCor-
mack is a principal architect and founding partner of Liscum McCormack
VanVoorhis LLP, a design oriented architectural firm located in Pough-
keepsie, New York; and
WHEREAS, Michael McCormack has specialized experience in collegiate
facilities; he brings a high level of design excellence to every project
and provides management and quality control for multiple clients; he has
advanced experience with construction managers, design-build, fast-track
private and municipal work projects; and
WHEREAS, Some key educational facility design projects Michael McCor-
mack has headed include: Marist College Capital Projects; and Mount
Saint Mary College Residential Life Facilities Study and New Residential
Facilities; and
WHEREAS, Key recreational/hospitality facility design projects he has
managed include: the Dutchess County YMCA renovation, Poughkeepsie, New
York; and Segalla Country Club Clubhouse and Restaurant, Amenia, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Michael McCormack has directed numerous municipal
and institutional facility design projects which have included: St.
Denis Parish Center, Hopewell Junction, New York; and Peter's Community
Mausoleum, Poughkeepsie, New York; and
WHEREAS, Michael McCormack has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Michael McCormack serves on the Dutchess Community College
Architectural Advisory Board; he is a board member of St. Francis Hospi-
tal Healthcare Foundation, the Bannerman's Island Trust; and the Dutch-
ess Community College Foundation Board; he is also Chairman of the
Dutchess County Workforce Investment Board; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Michael McCormack has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Michael McCormack has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael McCormack upon the occasion of his induction into the
Dutchess Community College Alumni Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael McCormack.
