LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Raymond VanVoorhis upon the occasion of
his induction into the Dutchess Community College Alumni Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Raymond VanVoorhis has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Raymond
VanVoorhis upon the occasion of his induction into the Dutchess Communi-
ty College Alumni Hall of Fame, to be celebrated at its Annual Gala on
Saturday, March 24, 2012; and
WHEREAS, A 1978 graduate of Dutchess Community College, Raymond
VanVoorhis is a principal architect and founding partner of Liscum
McCormack VanVoorhis LLP, a design oriented architectural firm located
in Poughkeepsie, New York; and
WHEREAS, Raymond VanVoorhis has specialized experience in Healthcare,
Commercial and Institutional facilities; he brings a high level of
design excellence to every project and provides management and quality
control for multiple clients; he also has advanced experience with
private and municipal work projects; and
WHEREAS, Some key Healthcare Facility Design projects Raymond VanVoo-
rhis has headed include: multiple projects at the Westage/ORMC Medical
Arts Building in Wallkill, New York; and multiple projects at the Orange
Regional Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, Key educational facility design projects he has managed
include: SUNY New Paltz's renovation to the old Main Building, New
Paltz, New York; and SUNY Orange Community College's addition and reno-
vation of its Library, elevator upgrades, and renovations to the Gymna-
sium, Harriman Hall, as well as a new Parking Garage; and the City of
Beacon School District, Capital Projects; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Raymond VanVoorhis has directed numerous municipal
and institutional facility design projects which have included: Town of
Fishkill's addition and renovation to its Highway Garage, the Dutchess
Park Maintenance Building, and War Memorial Park; and the Village of
Fishkill's addition and renovation to its Firehouse and Village Hall, as
well as the addition and renovation to the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Raymond VanVoorhis has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Raymond VanVoorhis serves on the Dutchess Community College
Architectural Advisory Board and on the Board of Trustees for Fishkill
Rural Cemetery; he is a lifetime member of Fishkill Fire Department,
Protection Engine Co. No. 1, and on the Board of Directors of Fishkill
Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Association; he is also a member, and former
Deacon, of the First Reformed Church of Fishkill; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Raymond VanVoorhis has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Raymond VanVoorhis has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Raymond VanVoorhis upon the occasion of his induction into the
Dutchess Community College Alumni Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Raymond VanVoorhis.
