LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Marilyn D'Ambrosio upon the occasion of
her designation by the Orange County United Way as a recipient of a
Marion S. Murphy Neighbors Helping Neighbors Award on March 15, 2012

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations
and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Marilyn D'Ambrosio upon the occasion of her designation by the Orange
County United Way as a recipient of a Marion S. Murphy Neighbors Helping
Neighbors Award on March 15, 2012, at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Award is named in memory of
Marion S. Murphy, former Orange County Clerk and longtime Orange County
United Way Board member; and
WHEREAS, Each year this most prestigious award is bestowed upon an
individual or individuals whose value and concern for mankind is demon-
strated through his or her vision, leadership, services, and commitment
to the people of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, Marilyn D'Ambrosio is the Owner of Doc's Fine Woodcrafts,
formed after a long and successful career in Human Resources at places
such as Competent Care, American Care, Health Savers, St. Luke's Corn-
wall Hospital, and the Orange County Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, An active volunteer for Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Coun-
ties, Inc., Marilyn D'Ambrosio has served on their Gala and Golf Commit-
tees, and is a member of the Hospice Auxiliary Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Marilyn D'Ambrosio has served on the Newburgh Fami-
ly YMCA's Board of Directors, as well as their Fundraising and Fashion
Show Committees; and
WHEREAS, Presently, Marilyn D'Ambrosio works at Mount Saint Mary
College; she is an avid scrapbooker and golfer; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, John D'Ambrosio,
and their son and daughter, as well as five grandchildren, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the wellbeing and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Marilyn D'Ambrosio upon the occasion of her designation by the
Orange County United Way as a recipient of a Marion S. Murphy Neighbors
Helping Neighbors Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Marilyn D'Ambrosio.
