LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jim Buzzetta upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Townwide Fund of Huntington,
Inc. on May 17, 2012

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Jim Buzzetta has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jim Buzzetta
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc., to be celebrated at its 2012 Annual
Golf Outing on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Huntington Crescent Club
in Huntington, New York; and
WHEREAS, A 1984 graduate of Smithtown High School East, Jim Buzzetta
attended the University of Vermont, graduating with a Finance Degree in
1988; and
WHEREAS, After a couple of years working in investment and commercial
banking, Jim Buzzetta joined the family automotive business, the Compe-
tition Automotive Group founded by his father, Joseph Buzzetta, 50 years
ago; and
WHEREAS, Jim Buzzetta has managed Mercedes-Benz of Huntington since
its inception in 2001; and
WHEREAS, The Buzzetta family operates Competition Toyota/Scion of
Middle Island, Competition Subaru of Smithtown, Competition BMW of
Smithtown, Competition Infiniti of Smithtown, and Mercedes-Benz of
Smithtown; and
WHEREAS, All told, the Competition Automotive Group employs over 400
people and sells nearly 10,000 vehicles each year; and
WHEREAS, Jim Buzzetta has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Jim Buzzetta believes deeply in giving back to the community;
he serves on the Foundation Board of St. Charles Hospital in Port
Jefferson, where he has actively volunteered for 15 years and was
awarded the Theodore Roosevelt Award for his service in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Jim Buzzetta is also on the board of Alternatives for Chil-
dren, which is a school that provides therapeutic and educational
programs and services to children with disabilities across Long Island;
and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Jim Buzzetta has been chairman of their road rally
fundraiser for 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Personally and through Mercedes-Benz of Huntington, Jim
Buzzetta supports the Huntington YMCA, Heckscher Museum, Portledge
School, Raynham Hall, Oyster Bay Historical Society, Huntington Chamber
of Commerce and many other worthy local causes; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jim Buzzetta has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Colette, and their
three sons, James, Daniel and Christopher, all of whom feel privileged
to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Jim Buzzetta has displayed through-
out his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jim Buzzetta upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Townwide Fund of Huntington, Inc. on May 17, 2012;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jim Buzzetta.
