LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 70th Anniversary of Bramson ORT
College, Forest Hills, Queens

WHEREAS, The State of New York is renowned for its centuries-old tradi-
tion of excellence and diversity in education and for the place of para-
mount importance which education holds for the people of the State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of commitment and high achievement, such as Bramson
ORT College, whose purpose and endeavor are dedicated to the pursuit of
excellence in education and service to community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 70th Anniversary of Bramson ORT College, Forest Hills, Queens;
and
WHEREAS, ORT (Organization for Educational Resource and Technological
Training) is an international organization which strives to bring
economic self-sufficiency to world Jewry; since the establishment of the
organization in 1880, ORT schools have provided vocational and technical
education to more than two million people, enabling them to become
productive and economically self-sufficient members of society; and
WHEREAS, Bramson ORT College, a technical college in the Metropolitan
New York area of the United States, was established in 1942 to serve
refugees and immigrants during World War II; and
WHEREAS, It became a college in 1977 to provide quality technical
postsecondary education and to meet the educational and career needs of
the New York community; and
WHEREAS, Bramson ORT College is accredited by the Board of Regents of
The University of the State of New York; all Associate Degree, Certif-
icate, and Diploma programs are registered by the New York State Educa-
tion Department; and
WHEREAS, Governed by a Board of Trustees as a not-for-profit educa-
tional institution, Bramson ORT College offers higher education in a
caring environment; the programs offered include Accounting, Business
Management, Computer Information Systems, Electronics Technology,
Medical Assistant, and Office Technology; and
WHEREAS, The College now offers new Associate Degree Programs in
Paralegal, Pharmacy Technician, Renewable Energy, and Game Design and
Programming; and
WHEREAS, The faculty and staff at Bramson ORT College are dedicated
professionals with industry and classroom experience; the goal is to
educate, inspire, advise, and prepare students for meaningful employment
opportunities and future careers; and
WHEREAS, The small class sizes and hands-on approach allow for more
one-on-one learning; Bramson ORT College maintains a balance between
coursework and the workplace through the College Business and Industry
Advisory Council; seminars, discussions, courses on-line and video
conferencing emphasize College ties with the business community; and
WHEREAS, Students have the opportunity to gain actual work experience
through internships and the use of modern College computer laboratories
such as the internet, multimedia, and job search; and
WHEREAS, The Bramson ORT Library Media Resource Center contains a
variety of printed and on-line materials, with special emphasis given to
the support of the curricula; a professional library staff offers
assistance and guidance to students, and maintains an up-to-date
collection, including numerous on-line resources; and

WHEREAS, Bramson ORT College's main campus is located in Forest Hills,
Queens, a vibrant community, easily accessible by public transportation
and by car; the College also has an extension center in Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Bramson ORT College enjoys the benefits of the educational,
business, scientific, industrial, and cultural communities of New York
City; and
WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by Bramson ORT College is in direct
correlation to the efforts of a skilled staff and administration whose
involvement is and has been characterized by an impressive commitment,
an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all its endeavors on behalf of the College and the population it serves;
and
WHEREAS, Bramson ORT College stands prepared to reach out in earnest
and enthusiastic quest of its mission, proudly aware of its history and
planning with vision and purpose to meet the challenges of the future;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Bramson ORT College, fully confident
that its future will be as distinguished as is its past; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bramson ORT College.
