LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Department of the Army's Benet
Laboratories at the Watervliet Arsenal upon the occasion of celebrating
its 50th Anniversary

WHEREAS, Organizations which serve the economic well-being and interests
of the people of this great Empire State merit the commendation of this
Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of business
organizations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Department of the Army's Benet Laboratories at the Watervliet
Arsenal upon the occasion of celebrating its 50th Anniversary; this
auspicious occasion will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at
Michael's Banquet House in Cohoes, New York; and
WHEREAS, Benet Laboratories is a Department of the Army research,
development and engineering facility located at the historic Watervliet
Arsenal in Watervliet, New York; it is a part of the Weapons and Soft-
ware Engineering Center (WSEC) Armament Research, Development, and Engi-
neering Center, located at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, WSEC's mission is focused on providing a full spectrum of
software and engineering design and support for a wide variety of Army
and industry needs; and
WHEREAS, Benet Laboratories is recognized world-wide as a Center of
Excellence for gun design, structural and dynamic analysis, application
of advanced materials and composites, and laboratory simulations ranging
from gun firing phenomena to static and dynamic load testing, as well as
environmental testing; a full complement of modern laboratory equipment,
along with a highly trained staff of scientists, engineers, and techni-
cians, enables Benet to be a world leader in innovative technology and
applications; and
WHEREAS, Benet Laboratories provides military and civilian business
entities a one-stop shop for research, design, prototype development,
full manufacturing and long-term customer service; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Department of
the Army's Benet Laboratories at the historic Watervliet Arsenal upon
the occasion of celebrating its 50th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Department of the Army's Benet Laboratories at the
Watervliet Arsenal upon the occasion of celebrating its 50th Anniver-
sary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lee J. Bennett, Director, United States Army Benet Laborato-
ries, Watervliet Arsenal, Watervliet, New York.
