LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kristine Shanteau upon the occasion of
receiving the Outstanding Educator of the Year Award from the Suffolk
Association for Continuing Community Education on Monday, June 11, 2012

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those illustrious individuals of distinguished purpose whose
purposeful lives and distinguished careers have been committed to the
pursuit of excellence in the education of the citizens of this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with it long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kristine Shanteau upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding Educa-
tor of the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing Commu-
nity Education at its Awards Dinner to be held on Monday, June 11, 2012;
and
WHEREAS, The Suffolk Association for Continuing Community Education
(SACCE) was founded to promote lifelong learning opportunities for
adults within Suffolk County and beyond the county's borders; its
purpose is to advance adult education as a vital factor in adult growth,
development and fulfillment; and
WHEREAS, Through the sharing of resources and ideas with colleagues in
the Nassau Association, and under the umbrella of the New York State
Association, SACCE strives to increase the recognition of and respect
for continuing community education and its professionals; in addition,
it is the goal of the organization to exercise leadership in the advoca-
cy of adult community and continuing education at the local, state and
national levels; and
WHEREAS, In 2002, Ms. Kristine Shanteau applied for a position to work
in the adult career and continuing education division; a true individual
of support, her role is to coordinate the part-time continuing education
programs, develop and market programs to businesses and industries, and
to develop the program catalogue, interview new staff and handle the
student issues; and
WHEREAS, For the past 10 years, Kristine Shanteau has been instru-
mental in expanding the adult career and technical programs, fostering
new and continuing relationships with business and industry, and
researching to ensure that the programs offered meet the needs of the
students and community; and
WHEREAS, Kristine Shanteau meets each challenge with professionalism,
specific detail and good humor; she treats everyone with respect and
concern as she is most deserving of this award; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned recognition and applause; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kristine Shanteau upon the occasion of receiving the Outstanding
Educator of the Year Award from the Suffolk Association for Continuing
Community Education; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kristine Shanteau.
