LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Joseph Mure, Jr. upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Visitation Academy
Fathers Club on June 14, 2012

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Mure, Jr. has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Joseph Mure,
Jr. upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Visitation Academy Fathers Club, to be celebrated on Thursday, June 14,
2012, at Russo's on the Bay, in Howard Beach, New York; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Mure, Jr. received his bachelor's degree in both
economics and sociology from Queens College; he later went on to
complete his J.D. in 1986, from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law
Center; and
WHEREAS, As an attorney specializing in criminal cases, Joseph Mure,
Jr. has been engaged in private practice for over 25 years and has
dealt with cases on both state and federal levels; and
WHEREAS, Due to his extensive amount of experience in the field of
criminal law, Joseph Mure, Jr. has been retained for many high profile
cases; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Mure, Jr. has been published in numerous articles, and
has been selected as a guest speaker for many professional groups; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Joseph Mure, Jr. has appeared on television as a
legal consultant; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Mure, Jr. has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Mure, Jr. serves as a member of many notable profes-
sional associations such as the New York Bar Association, National Asso-
ciation for Criminal Defense Attorneys and the Brooklyn Bar Association;
and
WHEREAS, As Vice President of Branch Development for the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Joseph Mure, Jr. dedicates a vast
amount of time to helping find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes; and
WHEREAS, In an effort to raise funds for the cause, Joseph Mure, Jr.
hosts two annual fundraisers, most notable of which is held at his home
called "The Little North Pole"; and
WHEREAS, To date, Joseph Mure, Jr. has contributed an immeasurable
amount of time to JDRF, and saving Peninsula Hospital Center; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Mure, Jr. has also dedicated his time and effort to
the Rockaway Children's Fund, and sits on the board of directors of the
New York Families for Autistic Children; and
WHEREAS, A valued member of his community, Joseph Mure, Jr. has been
the recipient of many awards including the SS Cosma and Damiano Humani-
tarian of the Year and the JDRF Humanitarian Award; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Joseph Mure, Jr. has stood constant
indignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Joseph Mure, Jr. has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-

tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Joseph Mure, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Visitation Academy Fathers Club on June 14,
2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joseph Mure, Jr.
