LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mathew M. Mandery upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by Brooklyn Technical High
School Alumni Foundation

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mathew M. Mandery upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Brooklyn Technical High School Alumni Foundation, to be
celebrated on Thursday, June 7, 2012, in New York City; and
WHEREAS, The Brooklyn Tech Alumni Foundation was formed in 1983; since
then it has brought Tech graduates together to enhance and support
excellence at the school that has shaped their lives; the mission of the
Foundation is to support Brooklyn Technical High School as the premier
specialized high school for science, technology, engineering and math-
ematics by harnessing the intellectual and financial power of Tech alum-
ni; and
WHEREAS, A founder of Brooklyn Technical High School Alumni Founda-
tion, Mathew Mandery is the first alumnus to become Principal of Brook-
lyn Tech; and
WHEREAS, A 1961 graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School, Mathew
Mandery has served the Alumni Foundation from 1983 to 2006 as a member
of the Board of Directors; from 1999 to 2006 as Executive Director of
CARETECH, its education program; and since 2006, as Foundation Chief
Executive Officer; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Mathew Mandery's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mathew M. Mandery upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Brooklyn Technical High School Alumni Foundation; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mathew M. Mandery.
