LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robin and Jack Cohen upon the occasion
of their designation as recipients of the 2012 Keter Torah Award by the
Jericho Jewish Center on June 14, 2012

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Robin and Jack Cohen have given not only of their time and
energies but also of their competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robin and Jack
Cohen upon the occasion of their designation as recipients of the 2012
Keter Torah Award by the Jericho Jewish Center, to be celebrated at its
2012 Gala Evening of Tribute on June 14, 2012, at the Center in Jericho,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Robin and Jack Cohen have been called upon to contribute
their time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Robin and Jack Cohen have been active in the Jericho communi-
ty and members of the Jericho Jewish Center for over 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Jack Cohen served as Vice President of Membership for six
years and is currently devoting his energies to the Steering Committee
for the Alliance of the JJC and the JCB; and
WHEREAS, Robin Cohen has been an active member of Sisterhood, a member
of the Gala Committee and currently serves on the Board of Directors as
a Trustee; she is a lifetime member of Hadassah; and
WHEREAS, Jack Cohen was born in the Bronx, moved to Long Island and
graduated from Herricks High School; he received his Bachelor of Science
in Business Management from C.W. Post College; and
WHEREAS, Jack Cohen began his career in sales in 1978, in the garment
center of New York; in 1986, he formed his own company, World Trade
Knitting Mills; in 2001, he co-founded and is currently the President of
Leslie Waterworks and currently serves on the Board of Directors of BIN
Networking Group and the Water Dealership Association; and
WHEREAS, Robin Cohen was born in Key West, Florida; eventually her
family settled in Merrick, New York where she grew up; she attended
Bellmore JFK High School and graduated from Tufts University with a
Bachelor of Arts in Economics; and
WHEREAS, Robin Cohen attended The Stern School of Business at NYU
where she received her MBA in finance; she worked as a controller for
Word Pro's Business Systems for 11 years before she started her own
business, Robin's Writes & Invites, which she has owned and run for the
past 18 years; and
WHEREAS, Robin and Jack Cohen are the proud parents of two sons, Jere-
my and Alex; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Robin and Jack Cohen have stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Robin and Jack Cohen have displayed
throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robin and Jack Cohen upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of the 2012 Keter Torah Award by the Jericho Jewish Center on
June 14, 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robin and Jack Cohen.
