LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Kaitlin Monte for her many outstanding
achievements and accomplishments, and for bringing pride to the State of
New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those individuals within the great Empire State who have made
strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role models
for others to emulate; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Kaitlin Monte for her many outstanding achievements and accomplishments,
and for bringing pride to the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Within every community there exist certain individuals who
through hard work, dedication, and service, play an instrumental role in
making their community a better place to live; and
WHEREAS, Kaitlin Monte is a non-profit leader, professional stage
actress and national advocate for anti-bullying and youth leadership;
and
WHEREAS, At age 16, Kaitlin Monte began her freshman year of college
after being accepted to Clarkson University on academic merit; she later
transferred to the University of Tampa where she graduated with a bach-
elor's degree three months after turning 19; and
WHEREAS, Kaitlin Monte is a noted speaker addressing issues of leader-
ship, youth empowerment, bullying, suicide awareness and women's devel-
opment for such organizations as New York University, Pricewaterhouse
Cooper, United Federation of Teachers, St. Johns University, and
hundreds of schools across New York and the United States; and
WHEREAS, In 2011, Kaitlin Monte won the title of Miss New York and
began advocating her anti-bullying platform in schools and communities
across the country; she is an official spokesperson for WiredSafety.org,
STOPCyberbullying.org, We're Kickin' It and Teenangels; she also serves
as a partner with The Farley Project and has worked with additional
organizations including The Ophelia Project, The Bully Project, and All
About Bullies Big and Small; and
WHEREAS, Also in 2011, Kaitlin Monte launched the first-ever Cyberbul-
ly Census; she founded the New York Cyberbully Petition in honor of
Jamey Rodemeyer and has since received over 3,000 signatures interna-
tionally; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Kaitlin Monte works with the New York State School
Boards Association to assist with the implementation of the Dignity for
All Students Act; moreover, she helped launch Project Empower and now
serves as full-time Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, This global education non-profit provides free career and
life skill development programming to schools and students, reaching
nearly 100 students in its first five months; and
WHEREAS, Kaitlin Monte was selected as the 2012 Civil Honoree by the
Queens community; she has been granted Honorary Membership with the
Teenangels; and
WHEREAS, As a distinguished speaker, Kaitlin Monte has served as the
keynote speaker for NYU's Women's Leadership Conference and has provided
staff leadership development at Pricewaterhouse Cooper; and
WHEREAS, Since 2009, Kaitlin Monte has been performing with the USO
Liberty Bells, the official show troupe for the USO; the Liberty Bells
are a professional group of Broadway and Off-Broadway performers who
travel the world to perform and raise support for our men and women in
uniform; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlin Monte made her broadcast debut hosting New Years Eve
in Times Square in 2010 with the Times Square Alliance, and in 2010
became a proud member of Actors Equity Association; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend individ-
uals of outstanding character, who have shown initiative and commitment
toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves, and acting as
role models of leadership to be emulated by both peers and young people;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kaitlin Monte for her many outstanding achievements and accom-
plishments, and for bringing pride to the State of New York; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kaitlin Monte.
