LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Long Island Arboricultural Associ-
ation, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its Annual Arbor Day Pruning
Event

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Long Island Arboricultural Association, Inc. upon the occasion of
hosting its Annual Arbor Day Pruning Event on Saturday, March 26, 2011;
and
WHEREAS, This special event will be held at Planting Fields Arboretum
State Historic Park in Oyster Bay, New York; this park is Long Island's
premier public arboretum and historic site in Oyster Bay; and
WHEREAS, The Long Island Arboricultural Association, Inc. (LIAA) is a
non-profit educational organization dedicated to education for the
appreciation and care of shade trees and shrubs on Long Island; in addi-
tion, it strives to stimulate interest in tree planting and preserva-
tion, to encourage research towards appropriate protection of trees and
shrubs and to encourage the practices of efficient and proper tree care
methods; and
WHEREAS, Arborists practice arboriculture, which is the care of trees
including pruning, removal, insect and disease control, cabling, ferti-
lizing, planting, and so forth; highly-trained arborists are much like
doctors in that they are able to diagnose insect and disease problems
related to trees; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, the Long Island Arboricultural Asso-
ciation, Inc. is proud to be part of the growing interest in the care
and preservation of trees and shrubs on Long Island; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
dedication of those organizations that enhance the well-being and vital-
ity of their natural surroundings; the Long Island Arboricultural Asso-
ciation, Inc. has certainly earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Long Island Arboricultural Association, Inc. upon the occa-
sion of hosting its Annual Arbor Day Pruning Event; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Deborah Green, President of Long Island Arboricultural Asso-
ciation, Inc.
