LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Audrey B. Eadie for 10 years of cease-
less, dedicated service to the North Bronx National Council of Negro
Women Child Development Center

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of individuals who
would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citizen-
ry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Audrey B. Eadie for 10 years of ceaseless, dedicated service to the
North Bronx National Council of Negro Women Child Development Center;
and
WHEREAS, Audrey B. Eadie was born and raised in Harlem, N.Y. and was
educated in the New York City public school system; and
WHEREAS, Audrey B. Eadie became a paraprofessional at District 12
school in the Bronx, and graduated from Bronx Community College with an
Associate in Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary
Education in 1974; and
WHEREAS, She went on to Queens College, where she graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree, followed by a master's degree in Early Child-
hood and Elementary Education; she obtained yet another master's degree
in School Supervision and Administration in 1984; and
WHEREAS, Audrey B. Eadie began her administrative career with Special
Services for Children which later became Child Welfare Administration;
she left for a period of time, and returned as the very first Deputy
Director for Administration for Child Protective Services at the Manhat-
tan Field Office; and
WHEREAS, After three years, Audrey B. Eadie left there and became the
Deputy Executive Director for Administration at the Richard Allen Center
On Life, Inc., a foster care and adoption agency; she then returned to
day care as Teacher-Director at the A.E.&T. Adair Community Life Center,
Inc. Head Start program in Harlem; and
WHEREAS, The Child Welfare Administration then became the Adminis-
tration for Children's Services, and Audrey B. Eadie returned as the
very first Deputy Director of Child Protective Services at the Bronx
Field Office; after two years, she was promoted to the Director, over-
seeing five sites and over 750 staff; after five years, she returned to
day care as the Educational Director of Little People's Place in Harlem;
and
WHEREAS, In December 2002, Audrey B. Eadie accepted the position as
Director of the North Bronx National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) Child
Development Center, where she has continued to diligently work to ensure
that the children are receiving the best possible pre-school education
and family child care services; after six months, the Board of Directors
promoted her to Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of her community, Audrey B.
Eadie was an active member of the Urban League, NCNW, NAACP, the Laurel-
ton, Queens Chapter of the Negro Business and Professional Women, and
other community-based organizations; and
WHEREAS, Audrey B. Eadie has spent her entire career serving, espe-
cially in educational and child-care services: public schools, foster
care and adoption services, child protective services and day care and
family child care services; and
WHEREAS, Audrey B. Eadie's love for the children, her dedication and
commitment to children's education, her Christian Spirit, and her

seasoned administrative skills are quite evident as she has served for
almost ten years at the North Bronx NCNW Child Development Center; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Audrey B. Eadie for 10 years of ceaseless, dedicated service to
the North Bronx National Council of Negro Women Child Development
Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Audrey B. Eadie.
