LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Nick Ziobro upon the occasion of winning
the Great American Songbook Vocal Competition

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and recognize
those young people of the State of New York, who demonstrate outstanding
determination, true purpose, and high achievement, and whose exemplary
artistic talents and accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit of
excellence and service to community, thereby bringing great pride to our
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Nick
Ziobro upon the occasion of winning first place at the Great American
Songbook Vocal Competition; and
WHEREAS, Since the very young age of eight, Nick Ziobro has publically
performed on stages throughout Central New York as an actor, singer and
dancer, dedicating countless hours to personal practice and rehearsals;
and
WHEREAS, As a 15-year-old Fayetteville-Manlius High School sophomore,
one of Nick Ziobro's dreams came true; he was selected from regional
competition as one of 10 finalists to sing at the Great American Song-
book Vocal Competition on June 15, 2012; and
WHEREAS, The Great American Songbook Vocal Competition is the only
competition in the United States that is based solely on music from
Broadway, from Hollywood musicals, and from the Tin Pan Alley era of the
early to mid-20th Century; and
WHEREAS, In preparation for national competition, Nick Ziobro attended
the Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook "boot camp" in Indianapo-
lis, receiving one-on-one coaching from world-renowned singers, such as
Michael Feinstein, Sylvia McNair and Sandi Patty; he learned how to
interpret two solo performances, "All of Me" and "Here's That Rainy Day"
by the late Emmy-Award winning composer and Syracuse native Jimmy Van
Heusen; and
WHEREAS, On June, 15, 2012, with his proud family in the audience,
Nick Ziobro stepped on stage at the Palladium in Carmel for the Great
American Songbook Vocal Competition and sang to perfection "All of Me"
and "Here's That Rainy Day," capturing First Place for his outstanding
talent, interpretation and presence; and
WHEREAS, For winning the Great American Songbook Vocal Competition,
Nick Ziobro, among many other opportunities, will sing in New York City
with Michael Feinstein, and he will sing the national anthem before the
Indianapolis Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium on September 23, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Nick Ziobro worked tirelessly and rehearsed countless hours
before the big competition, proving that dedication, enthusiasm, and
success are tremendous inspirations to the citizens of the State of New
York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor, recognize, and congratulate Nick Ziobro for winning first place
at the Great American Songbook Vocal Competition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Nick Ziobro.
