LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Joseph D. Pabis upon the occasion of his
retirement as Superintendent of Auburn Enlarged City School District

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Joseph D. Pabis upon the occasion of his retirement as Superintendent of
Auburn Enlarged City School District; and
WHEREAS, Joseph D. Pabis has a Bachelor of Science in Health and Phys-
ical Education from East Stroudsburg State College in Pennsylvania, and
a Masters in Elementary and Secondary Counseling from Marywood College;
he has also done graduate work at the University of Scranton as well as
doctoral studies at Temple University; and
WHEREAS, Beginning his career as a Physical Education Instructor at
Fairview State Hospital, Joseph D. Pabis also served as a counselor at
various educational facilities in Pennsylvania before his administrative
career; and
WHEREAS, From 1986-1998, Joseph D. Pabis served as Director of Pupil
Services, Junior-Senior High School Principal, and Senior High School
Principal respectively for Groton Junior-Senior High School; and
WHEREAS, Joseph D. Pabis served as Superintendent of Schools for
Candor Central School District for several years before starting his
career with the Auburn Enlarged City School District; and
WHEREAS, Joseph D. Pabis came to the Auburn Enlarged City School
District in January of 2002, serving five years as Assistant Superinten-
dent for Personnel and Finance; and
WHEREAS, In 2007, Joseph D. Pabis became the Superintendent of Schools
for the Auburn Enlarged City School District; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure, Joseph D. Pabis has rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Auburn Enlarged City School
District, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of staff,
parents, and students alike; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout his accomplished life have been his
supportive family, including his beloved late wife, Ellen, and their
four children, Rachel, Jared, Jonathan, and Marissa, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Educators like Joseph D. Pabis provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young
people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Joseph D. Pabis has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Auburn Enlarged City School District, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
his impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joseph D. Pabis upon the occasion of his retirement as Superinten-

dent of Auburn Enlarged City School District, and for his significant
contributions to education in New York State; and to wish him continued
success in all of his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joseph D. Pabis.
