LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Allan P. Wallace upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Allan P. Wallace upon the occasion of his designation for special recog-
nition, to be celebrated on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at the 50th Anniver-
sary of Independence for Trinidad and Tobago event in Brooklyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Born in Trinidad, Allan Wallace migrated to the United States
on April 28, 1968; after a few months in the United States, he voluntar-
ily joined the United States Army in November of 1968 serving one year
in the Republic of Vietnam from 1969-1970; and
WHEREAS, After a tour in Vietnam, along with four years of active
duty, Allan Wallace took a well deserved break from the military, at
which time he was employed by the Emergency Medical Service (EMS), which
was part of the Health and Hospital Corporation; and
WHEREAS, However, in 1980, Allan Wallace left EMS to join the New York
City Transit Authority; his love of duty and country remained as he also
joined the United States Army Reserve, assigned to the 408th Personnel
Service Battalion at the 77th Army Reserve Command; and
WHEREAS, Allan Wallace served in various positions within the 408th
Personnel Service Battalion from 1980 to 1997; from 1997 to 2002, at
which time he had acquired the rank of Master Sergeant, and was
appointed as the 77th Regional Readiness Command's (RRC) HIHC 1SG; in
2002, he stepped down as the HHC 1SG and took a position in the 77th RRC
Surgeon's Office as their Nuclear Medical Specialist; and
WHEREAS, In 2003, Allan Wallace was called to Active Duty in support
of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Noble Eagle; during
his 1.5 years of mobilization in the Surgeon's Office he was instru-
mental in ensuring the medical preparedness of the Command's mobilizing
soldiers, both CONUS & OCONUS; and
WHEREAS, Allan Wallace assisted in the medical preparedness of over
4,000 soldiers while mobilized; in September of 2004, he reluctantly
retired from the Reserves after 30 years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Allan Wallace's distinguished record
merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Allan P. Wallace upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Allan P. Wallace.
