LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Debra Izzo upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Board Member of the Year Award by the
Bellmore Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Debra Izzo of the Dirty Dawg has given not only of her time
and energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Debra Izzo
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Board Member of
the Year Award by the Bellmore Chamber of Commerce to be celebrated at
its Annual Installation Dinner on January 29, 2011; and
WHEREAS, When she was a little girl, Debra Izzo wanted to be a Veteri-
narian; while attending high school and college, she had many opportu-
nities as to what to do when she graduated; while she enjoyed animal
science and acting in her high school years, when it came time to pick
college courses, she chose accounting and computer programming; both
were sufficient and she did well, however being a person who enjoys
interacting with people, she felt stagnated in an office environment;
and
WHEREAS, While having a large variety of jobs in the past, Debra Izzo
felt that nothing fulfilled her enough to pursue a full career until she
started grooming; her career started at the Willow Pet Hotel in 1992 and
then proceeded to Dog Grooming by Rachel where she worked for 11 years;
it was now time to move forward and consider opening a business of her
own; and
WHEREAS, the Dirty Dawg in North Bellmore, New York opened in 2006; a
family business dedicated to its clients, today, it continues to serve
the Bellmore/Merrick communities while gaining a number of clients who
travel from as far away as Connecticut; and
WHEREAS, Debra Izzo's goal was to have a small shop that gives
personal and friendly service with her motto being "Bring them in
soiled, get them back spoiled!"; and
WHEREAS, President of the Dirty Dawg, Debra Izzo has been a member of
the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores since 2006 and has served on
the Board of Directors since 2008; she serves on various committees such
as Programs and Hospitality, Beautification, Street Fair and Awards; and
WHEREAS, Debra Izzo has had many opportunities to sponsor a wide vari-
ety of clubs, organizations and events, including: The Kennedy High
School Soccer Team, the Students of Bellmore Educational Reference Fold-
ers, the Annual Strawberry Festival, Bellmore Barks and the 24th Annual
Bellmore Family Street Festival; she also supports the National Child
I.D. Kits and Family Lifeline; and
WHEREAS, Debra Izzo has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Debra Izzo has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Debra Izzo has displayed throughout her
life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Debra Izzo upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Board Member of the Year Award by the Bellmore Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Debra Izzo.
