LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Green Toad Bookstore of Oneonta upon
the occasion of receiving the Otsego County Chamber/Excellus BCBS 5th
Annual Breakthrough Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Green Toad Bookstore of Oneonta upon the occasion of receiving the Otse-
go County Chamber/Excellus BCBS 5th Annual Breakthrough Award on Thurs-
day, October 14, 2010; and
WHEREAS, This particular award celebrates the true backbone of upstate
New York and the nation's economy; and
WHEREAS, The Green Toad Bookstore hosts author signings, book group
meetings, poetry readings, story telling for children and anticipated-
release parties; in early 2010, the Green Toad Bookstore was awarded the
2010 WNBA Pannell Award in the General Bookstore category; and
WHEREAS, Opening in 2008, the Green Toad Bookstore was a lifelong
dream of Michele Pondolfino; the store is a social gathering place for
community members to read books and check their e-mail; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
state economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Green Toad Bookstore of Oneonta upon the occasion of receiving
the Otsego County Chamber/Excellus BCBS 5th Annual Breakthrough Award;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michele Pondolfino, founder and owner of the Green Toad Book-
store.
