LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the FREEMAN'S JOURNAL AND HOMETOWN
ONEONTA upon the occasion of receiving the Otsego County Chamber/KeyBank
11th Annual Small Business Award

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
FREEMAN'S JOURNAL AND HOMETOWN ONEONTA upon the occasion of receiving
the Otsego County Chamber/KeyBank 11th Annual Small Business Award on
Thursday, October 14, 2010; and
WHEREAS, This particular award celebrates the true backbone of upstate
New York and the nation's economy; and
WHEREAS, Judge William Cooper founded the FREEMAN'S JOURNAL in 1808;
it was acquired by its current owners in 2006 and is recognized as the
county's oldest newspaper; and
WHEREAS, HOMETOWN ONEONTA was established as a full-service newspaper
to Oneonta and West Oneonta residents in 2008; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
state economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the FREEMAN'S JOURNAL AND HOMETOWN ONEONTA upon the occasion of
receiving the Otsego County Chamber/KeyBank 11th Annual Small Business
Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the FREEMAN'S JOURNAL AND HOMETOWN ONEONTA.
