LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Supreme Court Justice Pam B. Jackman
Brown upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Rochdale Village Board of Directors

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Supreme Court
Justice Pam B. Jackman Brown upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Rochdale Village Board of Directors, to be
celebrated at its Women's History Month Program on March 31, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Judge Pam Jackman Brown is a Supreme Court Justice sitting in
Matrimonial Part, Queens County; she was elected to the Supreme Court in
November 2011; and
WHEREAS, Judge Pam Jackman Brown was elected as a Civil Court Judge in
November 2008; she was appointed to the Housing Court in 1998 and served
as the Supervising Judge of the New York County Housing Court from 2007
to 2009; her tenure on the Bench also includes Family Court and Criminal
Court; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of the first class of City University of New York
School of Law in 1986 and one of its first judges, Judge Pam Jackman
Brown earned her B.S. degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice
graduating magna cum laude; and
WHEREAS, Judge Pam Jackman Brown is actively involved with several
judicial and bar associations holding several positions as officer and
board member; she was a criminal defense attorney at the Legal Aid Soci-
ety from 1986 to 1989 and worked as a law clerk from 1989 to 1998; and
WHEREAS, A publisher of several judicial decisions, Judge Pam Jackman
Brown was an adjunct professor at Borough of Manhattan Community
College; she conducts several conferences, lectures and is a CUNY
"Threefer" role model; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Judge Pam Jackman Brown has
displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Supreme Court Justice Pam B. Jackman Brown upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Rochdale Village Board of
Directors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Pam B. Jackman Brown.
