LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Deputy Michael Burger of the Oneida
County Sheriff's Department upon the occasion of being named Deputy of
the Year by the New York State Sheriff's Association

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those individuals who serve to preserve and protect such values,
lauding particularly their unwavering courage and dedication in the
daily performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
just tribute to those singular individuals who devote their purposeful
lives to serving others, expressing its highest regard for their unwav-
ering dedication, courage and personal sacrifice in putting the safety
and welfare of others before their own; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Deputy Michael
Burger of the Oneida County Sheriff's Department upon the occasion of
being named Deputy of the Year by the New York State Sheriff's Associ-
ation; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Michael Burger is the recipient of this statewide
honor awarded annually to a Deputy who has displayed outstanding courage
and heroism in the line of duty; Deputy Michael Burger, who was shot in
the line of duty, has certainly done so; and
WHEREAS, Having demonstrated his unconditional commitment to serve and
protect, Deputy Michael Burger has justly earned the admiration and
respect of his peers, the community and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to now add its commendation,
paying tribute to Deputy Michael Burger for his courage, professionalism
and commitment to his community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Deputy Michael Burger of the Oneida County Sheriff's Department
upon the occasion of being named Deputy of the Year by the New York
State Sheriff's Association, and to express its pride and gratitude to
him on behalf of the people of the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Deputy Michael Burger.
