LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Tonawanda Indian Baptist/Highpoint
Community Church upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the 2012 Organization of the Year Award by the Akron Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those illus-
trious individuals and institutions of the State of New York whose
purposeful endeavors serve to enhance the quality of life in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend
Tonawanda Indian Baptist/Highpoint Community Church on the occasion of
its designation as the recipient of the 2012 Organization of the Year
Award by the Akron Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Tonawanda Indian Baptist/Highpoint Community Church will be
honored at the Akron Chamber of Commerce's Annual Awards Dinner Dance to
be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at The Newstead Fire Hall in Akron,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Tonawanda Indian Baptist/Highpoint Community Church was
selected for this most auspicious honor for their ceaseless dedicated
service to their community; and
WHEREAS, Tonawanda Indian Baptist/Highpoint Community Church reaches
out to the community through its Food Kitchen which runs on Saturdays;
the church has a vision to run a daily soup kitchen in the near future;
and
WHEREAS, Moreover, other efforts by Tonawanda Indian Baptist/Highpoint
Community Church to help those in need include providing groceries and
finding shelter for those who are experiencing time without a home; the
church also provides holiday gifts to residents in the Akron/Newstead
community who would otherwise go without; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable congregation has also helped to provide fire-
works for the Akron Fourth of July Celebration in 2011, and plans to
underwrite them again in 2012; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those individ-
uals for the edification and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tonawanda Indian Baptist/Highpoint Community Church on the occa-
sion of its designation as the recipient of the 2012 Organization of the
Year Award by the Akron Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tonawanda Indian Baptist/Highpoint Community Church.
