LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating National Mom's Nite Out to be cele-
brated on May 10, 2012

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to praise and pay
tribute to mothers, and to all other women who have taken on that impor-
tant role and who dutifully serve as mother figures in the lives of
children throughout this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, National Mom's Nite Out was founded by Maria Bailey, host of
"Mom Talk Radio" and author of THE ULTIMATE MOM, TRILLION DOLLAR MOMS,
MARKETING TO MOMS, and MOM 3.0, and who has been featured in U.S. NEWS
AND WORLD REPORT, the WALL STREET JOURNAL;, CNN, and Lifetime TV among
other media and websites; and
WHEREAS, A 2012 online survey conducted by BSM Media, an international
marketing-to-Moms agency, and its partner Simon Malls, found that Moth-
er's Day has become another day of work for moms, with over 85% of moth-
ers reporting that they have to devote multiple hours of Mother's Day to
the other moms in their life (e.g., mothers-in-law and grandmothers) and
more than 70% have to celebrate at least another two Moms that day; and
WHEREAS, National Mom's Nite Out is the first nationally organized
celebration of motherhood intended to bring together today's moms, phys-
ically and virtually and it unites social media groups, entertainment
venues, small and large businesses, mommy bloggers, and diverse hosts to
plan, promote, encourage and celebrate a well-deserved night off for
moms on the Thursday before Mother's Day; and
WHEREAS, National Mom's Nite Out has been embraced by Moms in towns
and cities across the country as well as internationally; and
WHEREAS, New York State is home to millions of Moms who are key to
their families, our neighborhoods and our state and who contribute to
the advancement of our society through their traditional and non-tradi-
tional roles; and
WHEREAS, In full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legis-
lative Body is justly proud to be the first in the nation to recognize
National Mom's Nite Out to be celebrated annually on the Thursday before
Mother's Day, which in the year 2012 occurs on May 10th; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate National Mom's Nite Out to be celebrated in the State of New
York on May 10, 2012.
