LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Noah Delaney of Fulton, New York, upon
the occasion of winning the "Day with the Cup" contest

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
scholastic competitions, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Noah Delaney of Fulton, New York, upon the occasion of winning the "Day
with the Cup" contest; and
WHEREAS, Ten-year old Noah Delaney of Fulton, New York, won the Day
with the Cup contest, and the right to be with the NHL's Stanley Cup for
the day; he is a defenseman for the Fulton Squirts minor hockey team;
and
WHEREAS, The Day with the Cup contest encouraged hockey fans to submit
a photo that demonstrated their passion for hockey and a 1,000 character
or less description that best answered the question, "I deserve a day
with the Stanley Cup because.."; and
WHEREAS, For Noah Delaney, this contest wasn't just about himself
deserving a day with the Cup, but for his father as well; in January,
Noah's father, Rob, a member of the United States Armed Forces, deployed
for his third tour in Afghanistan, and hockey was something Noah and his
father shared and loved together; and
WHEREAS, Noah Delaney wrote about the bond between he and his father
in his entry to the contest, how they were together every weekend,
through the rigors of the youth hockey schedule and everything in
between; his submission was one of over 850 in the contest and his story
won by a large amount of votes; and
WHEREAS, In a scrimmage game with his team before the presentation of
the Cup, Noah Delaney scored four goals; and
WHEREAS, After being presented the Cup, Noah Delaney was at a loss for
words, only talking about how everything that happened was awesome,
especially because it meant so much to his father as well; as part of
winning the contest, he was able to bring the Stanley Cup back to his
house for the day; in addition to having the Cup for a day, he received
two tickets to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals at the end of May; and
WHEREAS, Noah Delaney's story will also be told on national television
during Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals, and played throughout the arena
during the game; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the individual accomplishments
of remarkable and exceptional students who participate in scholastic
competitions and who have achieved noteworthy recognition for their
efforts; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to recognize and applaud Noah
Delaney for his outstanding success, achievement and noteworthy accom-
plishment; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an
outstanding student and individual of such noble aims and notable accom-
plishments is brought to our attention, he should be recognized by all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Noah Delaney of Fulton, New York, upon the occasion of winning
the "Day with the Cup" contest; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Noah Delaney.
