LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Robert M. Chur upon the occasion of
his retirement after many dedicated years of service to ElderWood

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Robert M. Chur upon the occasion of his retirement after many dedicated
years of service to ElderWood; and
WHEREAS, ElderWood is a leader among Western and Central New York's
residential health care providers, reputed for its dedication to excel-
lence, administrative integrity and sincere respect for individuals and
families served by the organization; and
WHEREAS, Maintaining a philosophy of care without compromise, Elder-
Wood Senior Care is comprised of ten skilled nursing facilities, six
assisted living residences, and two independent living communities
throughout Western and Central New York; more than 3,500 residents and
patients receive care in ElderWood facilities each year; and
WHEREAS, In addition, over 2,800 professionals are employed throughout
the ElderWood organization, and 48% of its staff has been with the
company for at least five years; its administrative headquarters is
located in Williamsville, New York, and it manages a fully-staffed
training center, in-house pharmacy, print shop and construction workshop
in Amherst, New York; and
WHEREAS, Robert M. Chur is the President and Chief Executive Officer
of ElderWood Senior Care; he has been involved in residential health
care management services for more than 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Active and involved in professional, community and not-for-
profit endeavors, Robert M. Chur is the past chairman of the Board of
Directors of the New York State Health Facilities Association and a past
member of the Board of Directors of the American Health Care Associ-
ation; he was also appointed to the Continuing Care Retirement Community
Council; and
WHEREAS, President of the Williamsville Rotary Club Foundation, Robert
M. Chur is also a board member of the local Visiting Nurses Association
and a member of the Daemen College Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Under the superb leadership and direction of Robert M. Chur,
ElderWood Senior Care actively supports the Alzheimer's Association,
Coordinated Care of Western New York, the American Heart Association,
the Arthritis Foundation, the American Lung Association and a number of
other not-for-profit community and arts organizations; and
WHEREAS, In honor of his 30 years of service to seniors, Robert M.
Chur was named the 2004 Health Care Hero for Lifetime Achievement by
BUSINESS FIRST; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Robert M. Chur has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of his colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Robert M. Chur has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Robert M. Chur;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Robert M. Chur upon the occasion of his retirement after many
dedicated years of service to ElderWood; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert M. Chur.
