LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Vietnam and All Veterans of
Brevard upon the occasion of displaying its Vietnam Traveling Memorial
Wall

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's
freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend those
who have served in times of active conflict, as well as those who have
served in times of peace; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Vietnam
and All Veterans of Brevard upon the occasion of displaying its Vietnam
Traveling Memorial Wall; and
WHEREAS, The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is a 3/5 scale of the
Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., standing six feet tall at the
center, covering approximately 300 feet in length; and
WHEREAS, The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall stands as a reminder of
the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War; it was made for the
purpose of helping heal and rekindle friendships and to allow people the
opportunity to visit loved ones in their hometown who otherwise may not
be able to travel to Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is part of the Vietnam
and All Veterans of Brevard (VVB), located in Brevard County, Florida;
and
WHEREAS, A grassroots, community-based organization, the VVB is a
nonprofit entity that was formed and incorporated in December of 1985;
and
WHEREAS, Its mission is to be an active member of the community, and
has a color guard and a rifle team which participates in many local
events; furthermore, VVB supports a transitional housing facility which
helps veterans in need of assistance; and
WHEREAS, VVB has taken the same dedication in establishing the Vietnam
Traveling Memorial Wall, not only in the State of Florida and New York,
but throughout all of the United States; and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited their patriotism both at home and abroad,
these men and women demonstrated their love for their country and merit
forevermore, the highest respect of their State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard upon the occasion of
displaying its Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard.
