LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ruben Reyes upon the occasion of his
retirement after more than 30 years of distinguished service as Facility
Director of Allen Residential Center and Youth Leadership Academy, both
in South Kortright, New York

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ruben Reyes upon the occasion of his retirement after more than 30 years
of distinguished service as Facility Director of Allen Residential
Center and Youth Leadership Academy, both in South Kortright, New York;
he officially retired on Thursday, January 6, 2011; and
WHEREAS, For the past three decades, Ruben Reyes rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the Allen Residential Center and
Youth Leadership Academy as their Facility Director; recognized as a
visionary, friend and leader, he has served in this capacity for numer-
ous facilities, advocating for his staff as well as the residents; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Facility Director, Ruben Reyes served with
loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty
and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, Giving his time and energy to countless hours of volunteering
and community service, Ruben Reyes has also pioneered the way for juve-
nile justice; and
WHEREAS, With a strong belief in the community, Ruben Reyes is a
member of the American Correctional Association, the Tri-Town Boys and
Girls Club, and the Boy Scouts of America; he is also a congregant of
Sacred Heart Church in Sidney, New York, and a past volunteer of the
Sidney Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Jayne, and their two
children, Nicholas and Diana, all of whom feel privileged to be a part
of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ruben Reyes upon the occasion of his retirement after more than 30
years of distinguished service as Facility Director of Allen Residential
Center and Youth Leadership Academy, and best wishes to him in all his
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ruben Reyes, 17 Winegard Street, Sidney, New York 13838.
