LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Keith Schiebel upon the occasion
of his designation as the recipient of the Outstanding Agricultural
Education Teacher Award by the National Association of Agricultural
Educators

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those people who, by achieving outstanding success in their
educational and teaching endeavors, have inspired and brought pride to
our majestic Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to also take note
of and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose educational achievements have enhanced the quality of
education in this great State, and whose professional lives, personal
endeavors and community service are an example and inspiration to their
students, colleagues, friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Keith Schiebel upon the occasion of his designation as the recipi-
ent of the Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher Award by the
National Association of Agricultural Educators; this auspicious occasion
will be celebrated at the V.V.S. FFA Maple Weekend, to be held on March
26-27, 2011, in Verona, New York; and
WHEREAS, A high school agriculture teacher at the Vernon-Verona Sher-
rill (VVS) Central School in Verona, New York, Keith Schiebel is one of
only six individuals nationwide who received the Outstanding Agricul-
tural Education Teacher Award conferred by the National Association of
Agricultural Educators; and
WHEREAS, Keith Schiebel has been teaching at VVS Central School for 25
years; during his distinguished teaching career, he has seen significant
changes both in his community and in agriculture; and
WHEREAS, Skillfully adapting his teaching methods to reflect the
changing world of both agriculture and his students, Keith Schiebel
believes that students should be the focus in his classroom and that
agriculture is his best teaching tool; by focusing on the needs of a
diverse student population, he creates a classroom that allows all
students to benefit from agricultural education; and
WHEREAS, Regardless of the background or future plans of his students,
Keith Schiebel's agricultural education program enables all his students
to explore their interests, develop personal skills and apply their
skills in real-world situations; and
WHEREAS, Keith Schiebel has been named the National Association of
Agricultural Educators Outstanding Young Agriculture Educator, National
FFA AgriScience Teacher of the Year Runner Up and NAAE Teacher-of-Teach-
ers Award winner; and
WHEREAS, A 1984 graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor's
degree in Agricultural Education, Keith Schiebel completed his MPS at
Cornell in the following year; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his educational and community
service, a period of constructive involvement, Keith Schiebel has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the respect
and admiration of his students, colleagues, friends and family; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Keith Schiebel upon the occasion of his designation as the

recipient of the Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher Award by the
National Association of Agricultural Educators; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Keith Schiebel.
