LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Irene Adamski upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Amherst Museum's Women's
Interclub Council

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Irene Adamski upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Amherst Museum's Women's Interclub Council; this
auspicious occasion will be observed in conjunction with the Museum's
Annual Women's History Month Celebration, to be held on Saturday, March
26, 2011; and
WHEREAS, After several years' experience with the University at
Buffalo through the scholarship division of the Buffalo Federation of
Clubs, Irene Adamski formed an all-woman volunteer group whose sole
purpose would be to raise funds for scholarship aid to students at Cani-
sius College in Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, At the "September 1963" inaugural tea, Irene Adamski and 21
other women formally organized Canisius College Scholarship Associates;
the group's first board was composed of leaders in civic, religious and
cultural endeavors in the community; and
WHEREAS, Irene Adamski was the founder of Canisius College Scholarship
Associates and served as its President from 1963 through 1978; and
WHEREAS, The women who comprise Canisius College Scholarship Associ-
ates are a melting pot of women of all ages; they are a non-sectarian
group whose members are versatile, talented and ready to lend a hand in
any project they undertake; and
WHEREAS, By 1966, Canisius College Scholarship Associates had grown to
over 560 members and by 1969 its "Once in a Lifetime Auction" took Cani-
sius College all over the world, through Europe, Asia, and even Holly-
wood; and
WHEREAS, To date, as a result of its two annual fundraisers, Canisius
College Scholarship Associates has donated a significant amount of scho-
larship financial aid monies to Canisius College, assisting hundreds of
Canisius' students; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Irene Adamski has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Irene Adamski has displayed through-
out her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Irene Adamski upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Amherst Museum's Women's Interclub Council;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Irene Adamski.
