LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Harold Taylor upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2011 J. Walter Juckett Award by the
Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Harold Taylor has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Harold Taylor
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the J. Walter Juck-
ett Award by the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce at its annual
dinner celebration to be held at Heritage Hall in the Glens Falls Civic
Center on Saturday, January 29, 2011; and
WHEREAS, This prestigious award, specially designed and commissioned
through the Sandy Hill Foundation, is named after the late J. Walter
Juckett who served as chairman of the former Sandy Hill Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Harold Taylor, affectionately known as Bud, was chosen to
receive this honor for taking a leadership role in many community initi-
atives and non-profit organizations, as well as demonstrating his lead-
ership skills by example as a hands-on contributor to numerous associ-
ations; and
WHEREAS, Harold Taylor has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A retired insurance agency owner, Harold Taylor has long been
involved in both government and community organizations; he has ambi-
tiously spearheaded efforts to build a concert shell and a new field
house in Crandall Park, and was also instrumental in the relocation of
the Open Door Mission; and
WHEREAS, Representing the 3rd Ward on the City Common Council from
1998-2005, Harold Taylor also served on the City Planning Board;
currently, he is in his second term representing Glens Falls' 3rd Ward
on the Warren County Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, Harold Taylor is Founder and President of the Crandall Park
Beautification Committee, a private organization that has undertaken
park improvement projects, such as the concert shell and the new field
house; furthermore, he is President of the Board of the Open Door
Mission; and
WHEREAS, Harold Taylor serves proudly on the boards of the Glens Falls
Civic Center Foundation, Warren-Hamilton Community Action Agency, Warren
County Local Development Corporation and the Warren-Washington Counties
Industrial Development Agency; and
WHEREAS, A loyal member of the Glens Falls Kiwanis Club and congregant
of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Harold Taylor has also been a
Little League baseball coach; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Harold Taylor has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Known for being a modest and generous man, Harold Taylor is
extremely worthy of this esteemed community service award, often going
above and beyond without recognition for the benefit of those who reside
within the Adirondack region; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the wellbeing and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Harold Taylor upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the J. Walter Juckett Award by the Adirondack Regional Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Harold Taylor.
