LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Tripifoods
Inc. of Buffalo, New York
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly recognize those businesses within the State of New York which
have positively impacted their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 100th Anniversary of Tripifoods Inc. of Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, Tripifoods Inc. of Buffalo, New York, through four gener-
ations of family ownership, is a recognized leader in the convenience
store distribution industry; and
WHEREAS, The original business, the F.C. Tripi Company, located at the
Elk Street Farmer's Market in Buffalo, was founded in 1911, by Frank C.
Tripi and incorporated in 1917; and
WHEREAS, In 1934, the F.C. Tripi Company moved to 1547 Clinton Street
with three building expansions, increasing from 12,000 square feet to
21,000 square feet under the direction of Frank C. Tripi's son Joseph C.
Tripi; and
WHEREAS, Tripifoods moved to its current location at 1427 William
Street in 1956, and would build additions in 1964 and 1967, totaling
over 60,000 square feet; and
WHEREAS, During the 1970s, Tripifoods opened a separate facility for
cigarettes and candy under the direction of Frank C. Tripi's grandson
Carl J. Tripi; and
WHEREAS, In the mid-1980s, Tripifoods began to focus on the emerging
convenience store industry, and became one of the original supporters of
the New York Association of Convenience Stores; and
WHEREAS, In 1988, Tripifoods became the first food distributor in the
country to use a satellite tracking system for its delivery trucks; and
WHEREAS, During the 1990s, Tripifoods opened an automated grocery
warehouse totaling 160,000 square feet, created a Food Service Division,
and introduced online price book management; and
WHEREAS, In 2000, Tripifoods expanded its technology with EFT drafts,
electronic invoicing, its own web site, and creation of the Tripifoods
Information Exchange (TIE) Program under the direction of Frank C.
Tripi's great-grandson, Gregory G. Tripi; and
WHEREAS, Today, Tripifoods Inc. employs 250 people and operates a
250,000 square foot distribution center, serving 1,000 convenience
stores in 18 states; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Tripifoods Inc. of Buffalo, New
York, and to recognize its century of contributions to Western New
York's economy, employment, and community organizations; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tripifoods Inc. of Buffalo, New York.
