LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Kelsey Roberts of Colonie Central
High School upon the occasion of her designation as Teenager of the Year
by the Colonie Elks Lodge

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Kelsey Roberts of Colonie Central High School upon the occasion of
her designation as Teenager of the Year by the Colonie Elks Lodge; this
auspicious event will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, 2011; and
WHEREAS, A self-directed, conscientious and enthusiastic senior at
Colonie Central High School, Kelsey Roberts has accumulated an impres-
sive list of excellent achievements during her outstanding school career
including a remarkable seven consecutive years of Honor Roll; and
WHEREAS, Inducted into the National Honor Society in 2010, Kelsey
Roberts' numerous achievements and honors are impressive; she was a
National Student Merit Semifinalist, the Art Student of the Month, and
recipient of both the Gold Presidential Award and the YMCA Student
Recognition Award; and
WHEREAS, Kelsey Roberts' extracurricular activities are equally
remarkable; she has over three years of participation in Colonie High
School Theater, as well as two years of involvement in her school's Art
Club, where she currently serves as President; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, this outstanding young woman has volunteered her
services to numerous community organizations including Proctor's CAST
Program, Albany County Nursing Home, and the local community theatre,
Family Players of NENY; and
WHEREAS, Kelsey Roberts was selected for this special honor because of
her strong academic performance, her service to the school, and her
commitment to the community; and
WHEREAS, Kelsey Roberts' sense of civic duty and her commitment to
others represents the best development of the potential which is inher-
ent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Kelsey Roberts of Colonie Central High School upon the
occasion of her designation as Teenager of the Year by the Colonie Elks
Lodge; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kelsey Roberts, 17 Willow Avenue, Albany, New York 12205.
