LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Father Rick Beuther, Pastor of Saints
Peter and Paul Parish, upon the occasion of the celebration of the 15th
Anniversary of his ordination and his final mass at the church on June
29, 2011

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
the Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who commit their energies and
purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Father Rick
Beuther, Pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, upon the occasion of
the 15th Anniversary of his ordination and the celebration of his final
mass at the church on June 29, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Saints Peter and Paul Church, located in the heart of
Williamsburg, Brooklyn a few blocks north of the Williamsburg Bridge, is
part of the much larger Saints Peter and Paul Parish which also includes
Epiphany Church, located a few blocks south of the Williamsburg Bridge;
and
WHEREAS, Saints Peter and Paul Parish, established in 1843, was one of
the first Catholic parishes in Williamsburg; it has enjoyed a long-
standing presence in the area and remains the backbone of many of the
community's current outreach and preservation efforts; and
WHEREAS, Father Rick Beuther is a tireless community activist cham-
pioning the rights of the poor, organizing youth rallies, and fundrais-
ers, all the while maintaining a full mass schedule at both of the
parish's churches; and
WHEREAS, Born in Brooklyn on February 7, 1968, Father Beuther attended
P.S. 171 in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn and Thomas A. Edison High School in
Jamaica, Queens, after which he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts
degree in philosophy from St. John's University in 1991 and, in 1996, he
earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Seminary of the Immaculate
Conception in Huntington, New York and was ordained a priest on June 29,
1996; and
WHEREAS, His first assignment was at St. Matthias Parish in Ridgewood,
Queens, where he served from 1996-2001; his second assignment was to
Saints Peter and Paul Parish, where he has ably served since 2001 and
where, in 2003, he was given the additional assignment of serving as
Administrator of Epiphany Parish while continuing to serve as Pastor of
Saints Peter and Paul Parish; and
WHEREAS, Father Beuther will complete his outstanding service to
Saints Peter and Paul Parish on June 29, 2011 and will begin his new
ministry as Pastor of St. Bartholomew's Parish in Elmhurst, Queens on
June 30, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Father Beuther has brought to his ministry an overwhelming
spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and enlightenment
in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties, while always
displaying the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend them for the
edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Father Rick Beuther upon the occasion of the celebration of the
15th Anniversary of his ordination and his final mass as Pastor of
Saints Peter and Paul Parish on June 29, 2011, noting his unremitting
and compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God, man, and his
community, and extending to him the heartfelt best wishes of this Legis-
lative Body for a future of continued purposeful success and well-being;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father Rick Beuther.
