LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mary Madden upon the occasion of her
designation as the 2011 Businessperson of the Year Award by the Pough-
keepsie Journal

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Mary Madden has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mary Madden
upon the occasion of her designation as the 2011 Businessperson of the
Year Award by the Poughkeepsie Journal, to be celebrated on Tuesday,
June 7, 2011, at the campus of Dutchess Community College in Poughkeep-
sie, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Businessperson of the Year Award is presented annually to
recognize an individual whose leadership, hard work and dedication made
a measurable impact on the economic viability and vitality of the region
and surrounding areas; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of its CEO, Mary Madden, Hudson
Valley Federal Credit Union has remained solid and vibrant, growing in
total assets, members and branches; and
WHEREAS, Mary Madden has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her professional responsibilities, Mary Madden
is committed to volunteerism in her region; she currently serves on the
boards of Health Quest and the American Heart Association; she is
actively involved with Mount Saint Mary College, Dutchess County Econom-
ic Development Corporation and the Filene Research Council; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Mary Madden has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Mary Madden has displayed throughout
her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mary Madden upon the occasion of her designation as the 2011 Busi-
nessperson of the Year Award by the Poughkeepsie Journal; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary Madden.
