LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert G. Murphy upon the occasion of
his retirement from the Suffolk County Police Department

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert G.
Murphy upon the occasion of his retirement from the Suffolk County
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, For over 32 years, Robert G. Murphy has honorably served his
community as an esteemed member of the Suffolk County Police Department,
6th Precinct of Selden, New York's Patrol Division; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Robert G. Murphy served with loyalty,
honor and distinction; he was governed by a keen sense of duty and
always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious career, Robert G. Murphy was
awarded 12 department level recognitions; additionally, he was named
"Cop of the Month" in December of 1995 for his sincere dedication and
outstanding service on behalf of the people of New York State and the
residents of Suffolk County; and
WHEREAS, Robert G. Murphy has served as an active member of the
Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association since he began his career,
and for the past 14 years, has been the Union Trustee for the 6th
Precinct; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert G. Murphy upon the occasion of his retirement from the
Suffolk County Police Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert G. Murphy.
