LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Coach Ken Strube of the Shenendehowa
High School Girls Basketball Team upon the occasion of his retirement
after many years of outstanding service

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize those individuals within our midst who have contributed great-
ly to the quality of our lives by providing exceptional leadership and
commitment to our youth; and
WHEREAS, It is acknowledged that athletic competition enhances the
moral and physical development of the young people of this State,
preparing them for the future by instilling in them the value of team-
work, encouraging a standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for
success and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and,
further, that excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, all
of which actions are nurtured by dedicated coaching; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Coach Ken Strube of the Shenendehowa High School Girls Basketball Team
upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of outstanding
service; and
WHEREAS, Ken Strube has been the Head Coach of the Shenendehowa High
School Girls Basketball Team since 1980; his career record is a remark-
able 571-153 for an outstanding winning percentage of .789; he is the
Section 2 All-Time Career Wins Leader; and
WHEREAS, The Shenendehowa High School Girls Basketball teams coached
by Ken Strube were the Class AA NYSPHSAA Champions in 1988, 1990, 1993
and 1999; they were the Class AA Regional Champions in 1988, 1990, 1991,
1992, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2004 and 2010; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Coach Strube's Shenendehowa High School Girls
Basketball teams were the Section 2 Class AA Champions in 1988, 1990,
1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2004, 2008 and 2010; and were the Suburban
Scholastic Council Champions in 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992,
1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008,
2009, 2010 and 2011; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Basketball Coaches Association of New York
Hall of Fame, Ken Strube is also a member of the Capital District
Basketball Hall of Fame and the Shenendehowa Athletic Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Coach Ken Strube was a finalist in 2008 for the WBCA National
Coach of the Year Award; in that year, he was also the WBCA Region Coach
of the Year and WBCA Nike All-American Game Coach; in 1990, and again in
2008, he was the Basketball Coaches Association of New York Coach of the
Year; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Sportswriters Association named Coach Ken
Strube as Coach of the Year in 1988, 1990, 1993 and 1999; he was Section
2 Coach of the Year in 1988, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2004,
2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011; he was named Suburban Scholastic Council
Coach of the Year in 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994,
1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010
and 2011; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Albany, New York, Ken Strube and his wife,
Jo-Ann, are the proud parents of two sons, Joe and Frank; and
WHEREAS, Coach Ken Strube of the Shenendehowa High School Girls
Basketball Team has a deep commitment to supporting female athletes and
elevating their athletic performance on the court; he has a true passion
for the game and competition, and a devotion to preserving the integrity

of the sport; he is dedicated to mentoring young female athletes on and
off the basketball court; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Coach Ken Strube of the Shenendehowa High School Girls Basketball
Team upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of outstanding
service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Coach Ken Strube of the Shenendehowa High School Girls
Basketball Team.
